Self Crew Neck Sweat
Brightly coloured jumpers and knits are no longer the domain of Blue Peter presenters – and vibrancy is not something to be avoided. British brand Self perpetuate this line of thinking with this latest offering. Since 2007, the brand have focused upon streamlined structure inspired by traditional workwear, and whilst little appeal stems from their applause of the drop-crotch trouser (let’s save them for the Geordie Shorers of the world), their mustard crew neck sweater is a quality piece.
100% cotton material is embellished with distinguished stitching detail, and the reinforced waistband and cuffs only serve to accentuate the clean shape of the sweater. Self’s interpretation of the classic sweatshirt is also a possible alternative to those who are a little less keen on cable knits and cardigans; the piece isn’t your traditional winter wardrobe staple, but works just as well as the old favourites.
Combine with monochrome jeans or trousers and dark leather deck shoes or boots – primary colours are good, but don’t go overboard. Looking like Alphabeat wasn’t cool four years ago, and that notion still remains. When colour-blocking (which is unmistakably on-trend this season), try to keep it simple and subtle with other pieces in your outfit, and Self’s standout sweater is an excellent place to start.
Coming in at a very reasonable £60, there’s no excuse not to invest in something a little different this winter. Head on over to Asos today.
