New York City based luxury menswear designer Adam Kimmel has teamed up with classic Americana workwear brand Carhartt for a spring/summer 2012 collection.
Whilst Carhartt have worked with many other labels, including A.P.C, for Adam Kimmel this was his first collaboration with another brand. On the surface these two brands couldn’t be any more different from one another. Carhartt target the mass market with their workwear essentials and Kimmel targets a niche market with his modern high end fashion garments. However, from their differences comes the spark of creativity and perfect marriage of two brands from different backgrounds.
Delve a little deeper and it becomes evident that they have more in common than first thought. It isn’t just their differences that have brought Carhartt and Adam Kimmel together, but their focus on a workwear aesthetic which can be found embedded into Carhartt’s heritage and interlaced into Kimmel’s contemporary collections. Both brands have something to offer the other, Carhartt’s expertise (which dates back to 1889) and Kimmel’s design skill and modern angle. They have a shared passion for, and strive to bring, durability and wearability to their customer.
The workwear infused collection is both stylish and covetable. The highlight of the collection has to be the navy and black Reversible Welders Shirt, which echoes both brands’ signature styles.
The Adam Kimmel x Carhartt S/S 2012 collection is now available over at Coggles.
