Here at FashionBeans we recently showed you how to rock the Film Noir look. But before you invest in the fedora, shoes or even the suit, you’ll want to start with that killer jacket.
The jacket is very much a style-defining garment for men; arguably the ultimate in tailored, masculine chic. And if walking through the streets of London living your own dark detective fantasy, then the Chancery jacket is an excellent way to start assembling the classic “noir look.”
A double-breasted blazer constructed from the finest British doeskin wool and fully lined in Italian twill, the Chancery jacket combines a well executed cut with modern detailing. Featuring contrast melton under the collar, along with a self fabric tab, the buttons are crafted from real AllSaints horn, while basting stitching on the shoulders, back vent and cuffs, along with contrast piping, allow the garment to straddle the polar looks of rugged working man and schoolboy chic.
The double-breasted design, a prominent feature of the AW12 season, evokes the bygone era of the 40s and 50s, when expressionist cinema was at its height. The low-key aesthetic is another aspect which makes this the perfect jacket with which to start your Film Noir wardrobe – completed by charcoal trousers, washed black shoes and a white shirt.
The only thing left to add is the cynical attitude and sexual motivation… but we’ll leave those up to you.
The Chancery Jacket is available from AllSaints now, priced at £250.
