Consulting the contents of his own wardrobe before mapping out the agenda of each new collection, AMI’s founder and head designer, Alexandre Mattiussi, designs garments that gratify his personal sartorial standards.
Harbouring a creative spirit where refined masculine staples are at the core of his design philosophy, Mattiussi aims to make his label appeal to a wide-ranging demographic – from the regular guy on the street to the sartorially inclined fashion-conscious crowd.
Having honed his craft working with the fashion greats at Givenchy, Marc Jacobs and Dior, Mattiussi debuted his first collection for his Paris-based label AMI in 2011. Showing a great understanding of colour combinations and luxuriously understated materials, Mattiussi’s collections adhere to his design rational of offering something suitable for every style-astute man.
Intending to open his first stand-alone AMI shop within Paris in summer 2013, the coming months are set to be big for this up-and-coming label.
Warm-weather knits are becoming an increasingly integral feature to spring/summer collections, and they’re certainly an invaluable component in an off-duty wardrobe that has to face the fickle British elements.
AMI’s orange chunky-weave knit is the ideal sartorial solution for temperate days; composed of high-grade, breathable cotton, it’s comfortable to wear against the skin and won’t trap an oppressive layer of heat, whilst the bold and inviting tone will provide an instant summer-ready lift to your muted post-winter palette.
With its minimal yet intricately-woven design, this piece is a versatile classic that can be paired with both shorts, denim or tailored trousers; finish the look with a light-weight trench and deck shoes and you’re set for whatever the British springtime may throw at you.
