Leather, as we all know, is a particularly desired fabric; it never goes out of fashion and does extremely well in facilitating specific looks. ASOS currently produce two leather biker jackets, with this version being the stand out choice of the two.
The vintage look that the jacket radiates is down to the careful nuances that ASOS have included in the design. In particular, the trim brings character to the piece, whilst the faded, ribbed shoulder sections only further emphasise the ‘worn in’ aesthetic. The biker silhouette might be a new rising trend cut within leathers, but ASOS have managed to capture the appeal of finding that ‘one off piece’ at your local charity shop.
As we move into the autumn/winter season, this jacket should definitely be considered a weather appropriate buy. Murray brought you his guide to transitional season jackets last week on site, and the leather jacket featured prominently – as it will continue to year after year. Layered on top of a simple t-shirt, or over knitwear for when the weather turns, it is bound to help create a rugged, disheveled and masculine look that is not only on trend but highly attractive too.
At just £125 for 100% real leather, ASOS aren’t asking for much. The coalescence of old and new influences is both interesting and beautifully managed, creating a jacket that is classic and timeless, yet a statement within its own right.
