ASOS Leather Sole Jute Wrap Loafers

Steering away from more traditional footwear available at the moment, ASOS’ in house menswear team have come up with an innovative hybrid style – combining numerous different characteristics from existing popular footwear silhouettes, in order to create their own unique shoe.

The shoe acquires and combines properties from 3 specific footwear styles, which include: loafers, espadrilles and plimsolls.

Initially resembling a casual loafer, the overall aesthetic reminds us of a driving shoe – complete with its metal eyelets and lace side detailing. This loafer then features elasticated side insets that are more commonly found upon slip on plimsolls (think Vans). The style is then completed by drawing inspiration from classic espadrille detailing, in the form of a woven jute rope sole.

Combined with a suede upper and brown wooden heel, the mix helps to bring the shoe to life through its unusual texture combination – only reinforcing the shoes individualism.
