Bedwin & The Heartbreakers Clothing
Influential Tokyo designer Masafumi ‘Bebe’ Watanabe has already impressed a hefty share of critics overseas in his native Japan with his preppy, streetwear attire. Acknowledging the strong success his work has achieved back home, Masafumi takes on the challenge of breaking into London stores. This month, he proudly introduces one of the freshest collections to come out of Tokyo; Bedwin & The Heartbreakers. Coggles is one of the first UK based stores to stock the hard hitting brand, with the designs covered here at FashionBeans only further showcasing this magnificent collection in a brighter light.
The majority of the clothes in this collection come in the form of shirts, all different in their own unique way – providing something for every personal taste. Starting with the most simplistic design (and a firm favourite of mine), the Short Point Smile Shirt provides that instant, eye-catching message ‘smile’, which is hand drawn onto the upper-middle of the piece. Featured below in a crisp white colour, Masafumi carries on his popular bohemian style, this time with the structure of the shirt’s buttons. The top button has red stitching; the black lower placket button has a signature No.2 placed on it; and the rest of the buttons match the shirt in white. Other features include a lightly creased finish, a slim collar and a curved hem. The detailing and placement is both perfect and accurate.
Another shirt that represents the current trend of prints – and the flamboyant brother of the piece previously covered – is the Tailor OG Black Paisley Shirt. This shirt would perfectly accompany a pair of beige fitted shorts and tasselled brogues (see Coggles footwear range). All the fittings, and of course the button structure, is the same throughout all the shirts in the SS12 range.
Finally, with the 90s and sportswear trends rampant this spring/summer, a plain sweater is a must have. Bedwin & The Heartbreakers provide a truly attractive option with the Lou Grey Crew Neck Sweatshirt. A single zipped side vent differentiates this sweater to its rivals, whilst it also features a ribbed crew neck with a lightly washed finish and cover stitch seems.
