Beyond the Valley Review
Beyond the Valley offers a supportive network for design graduates or raw artistic talent ready to showcase their work. Creating a fashion community that aims to encourage and promote new young designers is their sole purpose. Located in the centre of London, graduates have the unique chance to trial new designs and products in their retail, gallery and studio space at affordable prices. The other main objective is to ensure that young designers do not get charged unfair commission rates whilst at the beginning of their career.
The innovative leaders behind Beyond the Valley’s concept are three Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design graduates; Kristjana Williams, Jo Jackson and Kate Harwood. As a way of promoting their classmates degree work, Jo cleverly acquired a vacant shop unit in Convent Garden, which became an unofficial graduate pop-up shop. The huge success of the store, combined with their frustration at talented designers failing to sell their work, led to the trio making the idea a permanent reality.
Expanding their product range, Beyond the Valley now covers fine art, music, film, furniture, illustrations, ceramics and jewellery – all, of course, from emerging designers seeking success with little money to achieve their dreams. The community now holds 100+ artists’ work, who can also opt to display more of their designs by hiring the exhibition space.
If you like to always be one step ahead of everyone else, put on your hiking boots and head Beyond the Valley. Along the way you will stumble across exclusive designs that do not conform to trends or the commercial market, special one off pieces and an adventure full of creativity and originality.
