James Long Clothing
James Long hit the catwalk hard at last week’s LFW Menswear day, revealing an excitingly fresh collection for autumn/winter 2012. His celebrated knitwear burst into vision paired with an array of contrasting textures and detailing. Autumnal hues were consistent throughout the collection, suggesting that earthy reds, browns and gold will be the desired palette for the coming winter.
The collection itself focuses heavily on fine detailing and contrasts. Likewise to the trends we are seeing at present. Bold knitwear is often paired with detailed shirts and dark tailored bottoms creating a lustrous winter look. The frequent use of blue and fine print also confirms the fact that elements of the current season’s trends will nicely crossover into next. Wide lapelled outerwear with contrasting sleeves adds to the glossy look, producing neat and fluid lines. This is also continued by the knee length open cardigan, an item that appeared regularly throughout the menswear day at LFW.
A notable piece has to be the pale blue shirt with gold embellished collar that appeared frequently throughout the display. Perfect for creating quirky layered looks, this item adds a splash of on trend colour with a lavish twist. The gold detailing complements the collection’s entire palette but also stands alone against extravagant pattern and heavy fabric, making it a must have for next season.
Although James Long is renowned for delivering edgy knit wear, this collection also exhibits a superior eye for detail and an alternative use of colour, both of which will now become continued attributes to his future work.
