It’s fair to say that 2012 has been the year of the retro trainer. It seems that hardly a week passes without us seeing a new replica or re-release from the design vaults of Nike, Adidas or Reebok. Whilst there is definitely a reason why the ‘Air Max’, ‘Superstar’ and ‘Classic’ are respective best sellers, you may, like us, be looking for a slightly less well-known brand to satisfy your craving for individuality.
Le Coq Sportif is the classic French brand with huge retro style credentials (not to mention one well turned out sporty rooster). One of these credentials was the 1985 release of the ‘Eclat’, arguable the brands most famed runner. Not looking too shabby at 27 years of age, the 2012 re-release is a welcome addition to the retro trainer world we currently reside in.
So if you’re sick of the sight of the typical ‘Nike Air Max’ wearing ‘fashionisto’ and desire something a little more underground and unique, the Eclat is a great choice. Our favourite colourway here at FashionBeans is the grey and maroon combination, for the ultimate 80s style statement. However, we would equally welcome the forest/yellow or the navy/orange combination on our shoe rack (you listening, Santa).
Apart from looking great, the functionality of the ‘Eclat’ also means that when January finally comes around, the guilt of eating that family size box of Quality Street will be eased by the fact that they would also make the perfect addition to your gym bag.
