Bailey of Hollywood Hats
American company Bailey of Hollywood have released their latest head wear offerings for the SS13 season. Established in 1922 by George S. Bailey, the brand was part of Hollywood’s golden era – making hats for icons like Cary Grant, Humphrey Bogart and Bing Crosby to name but a few.
Throughout its history, the label has built an exceptional reputation by continually providing unparalleled quality and craftsmanship, as well as on trend designs.
Bailey’s original mantra, to make “the best hats possible”, is still in effect in every hat made today, with the designs for their SS13 collection being no exception. They still manufacture a lot of their hats in their Pennsylvania factory and heritage plays an important part in the design process, but the modern touches and shapes really make the brand stand out.
The SS13 collection offers a wide selection of designs – including the Panama, Montecristi, Straw and Cap – in a timeless palette of white, navy, brown and grey. Today we break down some of the key styles you should be considering…
Bailey of Hollywood Hats: SS13 Key Styles
To begin, Bailey offers a new interpretation of the Montecristi, the world’s finest straw hat, with three contemporary shapes for the next generation of hat lovers.
Using 12-14 grade Panama and Italian grosgrain bands in bespoke origami designs, these hats are woven by skilled artisans in Ecuador and shaped by American craftsmen. The V1221 model is particularly strong, coming with a twisted crown and thick dark strap against the bleached base.
The stand out piece within the straw selection is the ‘Kingston’, which comes with a teardrop crown and two inch leather turn down brim. It is an easy to wear piece that will integrate seamlessly into your spring/summer wardrobe. An absolute must-own for holiday season and high summer.
If you prefer a more relaxed look or are slightly wary about not being able to pull off some of the more traditional designs, look no further than the baseball caps offer. A trio are available, named the ‘Screenwriter’, ‘Producer’ and ‘Director’ – again referencing the brand’s Hollywood pedigree. The three designs are casual yet refined, with the ‘Producer’ becoming a favourite of the FashionBeans team due to its pinstripe cotton fabric and brown leather visor.
Although hats are an acquired taste, they can put a confident and unique spin on any outfit. Bailey of Hollywood make some of the best men’s head wear currently available on the market, so if you are considering starting (or adding to) your own hat collection this season, look no further.
