Suitsupply AW13 Collection
Suitsupply has recently released a lookbook and a selection of available to pre-order pieces from its upcoming autumn/winter range.
The collection is texture heavy, with thick woollen suiting and outerwear helping create a luxurious, refined look that is supplemented with some deliberately archaic pieces.
The tailoring offers modern fits that hark back to the past. Heavyweight wools are the go-to fabric within the range and bold patterns such as windowpane checks and pinstripes further emphasise the tactile element and create an antiquated, dandy-esque look.
Complementing this approach is the use of the consciously old-fashioned and formal double-breasted waistcoat, an unusual piece that lends the collection a unique appearance. The use of suiting separates brings classic pieces bang up to date, with cottons breaking up the heavy textures and providing a contrast to the wools.
Statement overcoats perfectly finish the tailored looks. Available in bold colours as well as traditional styles, the coats provide a welcome extra layer for the colder weather whilst maintaining the overall streamlined silhouette.
Despite the emphasis on tailoring, there is also a selection of casual wear available. Gilets lend a practical appeal to some of the outfits and knitwear provides a more relaxed alternative to the blazer whilst retaining the textured element that defines the collection. These causal pieces are incorporated into the smarter outfits to interesting effect – layering a gilet under a blazer and over a shirt and tie creates a utilitarian yet smart look that evokes the image of the country gentleman.
Overall, Suitsupply’s autumn/winter 2013 collection takes classically inspired suiting and combines it with casual wear to create a look that is both practical and luxurious. The collection is in the process of being unveiled and a selection of pieces are available to pre-order on Suitsupply’s website now.
