MTV Star Makes Modelling Debut
Jay-Z’s clothing label has confirmed it has signed TV personality Nev Schulman as its new face.
Rocawear said the American actor and producer, best known for his Catfish TV series, will front the AW14 European menswear collection.
The campaign is Schulman’s first modelling job, having worked on the MTV show since the success of the original documentary in 2010.
He told FashionBeans it has been “an absolute pleasure” to collaborate with the rap star’s line.
“Growing up in New York I’ve always been aware of Rocawear and I was only too excited at the opportunity to be involved in the new style direction the brand is taking in Europe.”
The 29-year-old described a “synergy” between Catfish and the new campaign.
“It challenges the notion that things aren’t always what they seem and that we should challenge commonly held perceptions.”
Catfish looks at the dangers of forming online relationships. The documentary was followed up with an MTV series Catfish: The TV Show, currently in its third series.
The line features heavy sportswear influences with sweatshirts, bomber jackets and slim fit track pants in mainly black and grey colour options.
T-shirts carry the 2Face design, which features Greek Mythology imagery, a reference to Jay Z’s 2013 Magna Carter album artwork.
Prices for the AW14 collection will start from £21 for T-shirts, with jeans and jackets from £82, when it launches oline at rocawear-europe.com and at stockists including Burton from September this year.
