Sports Brand Calls On Heritage Label For Collaboration
British heritage label Barbour and sports brand adidas Originals have delivered on an earlier announcement, releasing the full results of a collaborative collection.
Inspired by three shared themes, the line for AW14 comprises a limited range of outwear and footwear, with designs adapted from both Barbour and adidas’ existing product ranges.
For the first theme, Country, Barbour has reimagined its waxed Beaufort jacket, adding leather details on the hood, pockets and hem to create the Adiwick model, while adidas has reproduced its TS Runner trainers with a tan leather upper to match.
The second theme, Spectator, celebrates adidas’ roots, with the sportswear brand editing its ZX555 trainer to match Barbour’s navy blue Johbar jacket, which comes complete with leather edging and contrasting sleeves. A red quilted Roubarb jacket and coordinating CLMBA trainer style finishes off the range.
Military is the final theme of the collection, featuring a customised Baradi jacket from Barbour, which was originally crafted for a British Army captain during the Falklands War. Original details such as a ring zip pull and multiple pockets remain, while a camouflage print lining made from sections of the accompanying high top Originals GSG-9 boots has been added.
The adidas Originals x Barbour collection is set launch in select adidas and Barbour stores worldwide on 8th November, as well as online via Hannon, End Clothing, Philip Browne and Number Six London. Prices will start at £115 for trainers and at £249 for outerwear.
