Menswear Brand Marks Centenary With New Collection
Realm & Empire, the unique menswear label which partners with the Imperial War Museum (IWM), has today launched its AW14 collection.
The young brand’s third winter range marks the centenary with pieces inspired by artists and social movements of the First World War.
Designers at the British firm have split the launch into two lines, Officer and Tommy, as a reference to the difference between ranks of soldiers and their superiors.
The Officer range features high-end pieces such as a wool tweed topcoat, slim-leg trousers and a two-tone club collar shirt, while Tommy is made up of workwear items including chunky knitwear and acid wash jersey wear.
In addition to the two lines, Realm & Empire’s t-shirts and loopback sweatshirts return for the new season, using graphics, images and artwork taken from the IWM, which bosses call, “one of the most significant cultural archives of our times”.
Other menswear items include polo shirts, merino wool cardigans and accessories.
A statement from the brand said: “Realm & Empire has the privilege of working with original pieces that inspire and inform the new collection, ensuring that every piece of contemporary apparel is historically referenced and carries authentic detailing.”
Earlier in the year the brand released a line of commemorative D-Day t-shirts, marking the 70th anniversary of the Normandy Landings.
Realm & Empire’s AW14 collection is available to buy online now, with prices ranging from £35 for t-shirts to £400 for outerwear.
