Mark Thomas Taylor SS12 Collection

Mark Thomas Taylor Spring/Summer 2012; bring on the bright, bring on the bold and bring on the daring.

Born in the UK but globally raised, Taylor’s eclectic heritage is evident throughout the collection. Son to an English father and Thai mother, Mark Thomas Taylor was brought up in countries such as Barbados, the US, the UK and Indonesia. Clearly enriched by such a diverse upbringing; MTT’s SS12 collection is infused with a plethora of colours and textures.

The up-and-coming label’s ethos is clear; “effortlessly cool menswear styling with an Asian colourful flare.” Be it winter or spring, Mark Thomas Taylor aims to give the modern man the same palette range often afforded in most womenswear labels.

The traditional Thai fabrics are local grown and woven, giving the clothes a real personal heritage. The Premium Denim collection is sourced from quality raw, unwashed denim to distressed and dirty washed; all details are kept to minimum, making these pieces, and the soft-washed tees and vests, instant staples that you’ll reach for time and time again.

Mark Thomas Taylor SS12 Collection Key Pieces:

Blue Skyward shirt

This regular-fitting Skyward shirt from MTT LDN features a button-down fastening to the front, one chest pocket and an internal yoke. Rendered in 100 per cent Thai cotton, it is finished with contrasting cuff detail and coated coconut buttons. The label’s shirts are an effortless way to add a serious colour pop to your wardrobe without compromising on slick, tailored style.

Mark Thomas Taylor Jeans

Crafted from quality denim ranging from 13oz in a slim fit for the Rawman option, distressed washed denim in a skinny fit for the Destroyed and stretch-denim in skinny with fading for the Dirty; all of the Mark Thomas Taylor jeans feature hallmark brass hardware, low-rise and five-pocket styling.

Personal Favourites:

Indigo shirt

This double-washed shirt is made from heavier 13oz denim making it ideal for layering styles. Designed to age with the owner, this shirt makes my favourite list for its simplicity, versatility and quality.

Muscle tee

Nothing beats a casual t-shirt, be it for layering or simply laying about. This fitted top is made from a recycled-cotton blend finished in grey marl.

Probably my first-purchase – the classic cotton t-shirt is given a face-lift with a speckled-colour finish, accented with a chest pocket.
