TOMS: One for One Eyewear
Charitable brand TOMS has launched a new eyewear range as it seeks to expand its ‘One for One’ campaign.
Founded by Blake Mycoskie in 2006 while he worked with children in Argentina, TOMS is a fashion initiative unlike any other. Realising that many of these children brave each day barefoot – exposing them to possible injury, infection and illness – Mycoskie created TOMS as a way to help. The brand’s canvas espadrilles have fast become a summer staple; worn by celebrities and environment-conscious fashion lovers alike. The brand soon added lace-less styles (Cordones) and low-rise boots (Botas) to the mix. A multitude of fashion-savvy styles are available, from simple block hues to bold prints.
The brand’s ‘One for One’ mantra is simple. For every pair of shoes bought, they are matched with a second pair that is given to a child in need. In its first year alone, Blake’s family and friends returned to Argentina with 10,000 shoes.
Now the company has made its mark in the footwear world, its desire to help those in need and its realisation of its own authority as a power player has meant TOMS has made the leap into another sector; eyewear.
Hot on the heels of their 1,000,000th pair of shoes given to help a child, TOMS expands its ‘One for One’ initiative to help give a person their sight back. For every pair of sunglasses bought, TOMS will provide the required eyecare to someone in need – be it prescription glasses, medical treatment or sight-saving surgery.
The collection doesn’t disappoint; from the iconic wayfarer to varying styles of aviators and pilot lenses, there is something for everyone.
Each pair of sunglasses has three hand-painted stripes to the frame arms. These stripes represent the ‘One for One’ elements; you, TOMS and the person you are helping. The entire collection is made in Italy to the highest standard and all provide 100 per cent UVA/UVB protection.
Be part of the movement and make these iconic styles give back in a way like never before.
TOMS eyewear and shoes are available from Toms as well as Selfridges.

Amazing company! The tortoise shell wayfarers with blue tips may have to find their way into my possession…
They’re charitable and lovely, however their shoes should be banned, they are utterly hideous
