Damir Doma Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection
Although we are currently in a short heatwave here in the UK, I am finding myself dreaming of the autumn/winter must-haves that were spotted in February’s fashion weeks. One of the stand-out collections from these shows came from Damir Doma, who showcased an exotic and well-travelled range that took inspiration from Tibetan and Mongolian cultures.
London boutique and online store LN-CC have recently began stocking this collection and there are some incredible pieces available. To channel your inner Tibetan monk, there are overcoats in rich woven wools and linens. The ‘Candiru Coat’ is a personal favourite and is created from a woven linen and alpaca blend in a deep colour palette that perfectly exudes the inspiration from which it is taken. The oversized silhouette is perfect for winter layering and provides an interesting take on your standard winter coat.
There are also chinoise silk shirts and trousers that feature an eastern influenced shape and cut, whilst also being elegantly patterned. Trousers are mainly drop-crotch to add to the oversized, draped silhouette prominent throughout the collection. The ‘Percino’ trousers, for example, feature a woven monochrome geometric pattern which tapers down to a cropped cuff – providing a modern take on traditional eastern dressing.
All the pieces in the collection could be worn together for the full Mongolian look, or separates can be effortlessly integrated into your existing wardrobe to add a slightly exotic twist to your current style. The collection is finished off with suede trainers/boots and patterned silk scarves, which again can be added to your outfits for a nod to this trend.
