Qasimi Spring/Summer 2013 Collection
Whilst the first London Collections: Men came and went in a whirlwind of exciting new design talent, mixed in with some classic British tailoring, it is easy to forget that there are many other London brands that chose not to show here this season, instead opting to temporarily move to Paris or Milan. Maybe it was due to the increased volume of designers showing in London or the powerful lure of the other fashion capitals was too strong – I guess we’ll never know. But one such brand that made the move was Qasimi.
The tone of this season in menswear is undoubtedly luxe sportswear/streetwear, with designer after designer showing updated sports pieces with fashion twists. Qasimi were no exception, opting for a punchy bright collection and interesting mixtures of smart tailoring and casualwear. This contrast was evident when comparing the models’ slicked hair with their baseball caps and bombers.
Outfits were largely tonal and came in sky and royal blues, corals and tangerines, and candy and hot pinks. In terms of key pieces, the all-over print trend is still going strong – with suiting and shirt-short combos coming in matching prints from paisleys to more abstract designs. T-shirts came clean cut and boxy in luxe fabrics, whilst bomber jackets were smartened with shirts and tailored shorts. Socks and sandals were also prevalent and this is fast becoming one of the season’s wild-card trends (I’m not kidding!)
Sports luxe for the print and colour lovers, Qasimi showed why they are one of the most exciting brands in London (or Paris) right now.
